Whew back to work so I can rest!

Boy what a weekend. I got a wild hair and started painting the house!!!!! I am only painting the white parts right now. It was a faded out off white color before and stained, yuk. I made it from the back gate to the end of the garage (2 more sides to go) and from the back porch to the end of the house (one more to go). We have rock on the other sides, LOL. DH made me stop Monday because I was getting so hot. We also replaced some crazy lopsided doors going in to a storage area off the back of the garage. They look so good. My DH is awesome! I cleaned out the area a little and had to throw away some boxes that got wet and ruined! I want to hang the clothes bar from the old house in there so I can hang my garment storage things and trade out summer and winter clothes like I did at the old house. We have closet space, but it would be nicer. We saw two movies this weekend after it got to hot to work (100 in the shade ya'll). Sunday we saw X-men and Monday we saw Mission Impossible 3. Can you guess who picked the movies??? It wouldn't be my Sci-Fi redhead now would it???

I almost finished the collar to the side tie vest last night, just 3 more rows of reverse st st. Then seaming and the ties. Hopefully will finish it tonight. But it's only supposed to be in the 80's today so may go home and get a little painting done. Just calling me the "rolling stone" LOL.

Played a good tourney of Canast last night on the Yahoo games. My partner and I won the tourney!!! Yahoo.

My little red convertible is in the shop and I have to drive the 94 Dodge Dakota pick up, LOL. Hopefully it won't be long. Mine keeps running hot. Praying it's only the thermostat.

Friday Yahooooooooo!

I have done all the orders for next Tuesday, done busy work, and have said I am leaving at noon. Our medical director was doing hazmat physicals this morning and that kept the other nurse busy. Our secretary is off and the phones have been a monster. LOL.

Hump Day again.

Yeah the week is almost done, then a loooonnnnngggg weekend. DH is wanting to go out of town, but I think I just want to stay home, maybe go to the drive in, piddle in the garden, put up some garden lights, try to figure out my knitting machine. I may take him on a day trip somewhere. But don't realy want to go for 3 days. Its so hot the dogs would have to have the pet sitter come 3 times a day and that's expensive, LOL.

Finished the left side of the side tie vest and casted on the right side last night. No sock time though.

DH taking our Aussie mix to the groomers today, he forgot to tell them to save her fur, LOL, so I can spin it when I learn to spin. She has such beautiful fur, so long and soft. It will make pretty yarn. No futher contact from my Secret Pal since the intial "hi". Wonder if she's changed her mind? Oh well.

TGIF and Mental Health Afternoon

I am leaving for a mental health afternoon. Picking up my BF at taking her with me to an estate sale for lunch, then I will have 3 hours to myself. I am having a blue Friday for some reason. I guess it's the hormones, peri menopausal thing. Worked some on the Left Front of DD1's top but the last row wasn't lacing out right. So may have to frog back that row. Was tired so I didn't try to do it last night.

DH pissed me off yesterday.
So today I get these.....
Still pissed off, but they are pretty.

Yesterday I was talking to DD1 on the phone and we were discussing her insurance, and her DH's idea he didn't need any. Well she finally got him to get some health insurance. I had said "yah you never know when something may happen when you need it and medical care could ruin you without it You never know, you could just be driving down the road and have an accident, et. ". Well she calls last night and said "mom you remember our conversation this afternoon? I said yes. She said well it happened!". OMG. They were in an accident. But thank God no one was hurt. They were going to their nephews baseball game with her MIL and a 16 year old girl plowed into her MIL's car. The car is totaled but no injuries. She told her DH, see Mom and I just talked about this very thing. So he believes in the need for health insurance now! Well off to pick up my BF and go see some pretty things.

Hump Day!

Well the week is half done. I put down 18 patio bricks last night from the patio to the sidewalk beside the garage. Not very pleased with it, I may "frog" it LOL and start over. I was trying to get a little curve thing going and it just doesn't look right. Dang if I keep this up I may get back in shape. Told my hubby this is better than working out at the gym. No wonder our ancestors were smaller and healthier. Hard work and sweat, small portions of home grown healthy fresh veggies. maybe a little meat, chicken, or fish, fresh baked bread. Nothing that would keep on your shelf for "YEARS".

Finished the little sweater edging, but I am tacking down the piping a little more. It's still wanting to curl and it's been blocked. The it's off to the Granny Hope Chest, LOL.

I have one client tonight at 5:15 then off to home to work in the garden a little more. Some of the hasta's were beginning to peek through. If everything grows that's planted out there we'll have a little jungle. LOL. The wisteria is going nuts that's for sure. Already climbed up to the second story deck and has twined in the lattice work up there. But no blooms!!!!!!

What the....????????

Can you believe they let Denny DIE!!!!!!!!! on Grey's anatomy? Unbelievable. After all that!!!! Was knitting fast and furious, playing canasta on line and watching the seaon finale. But then I was MAD.

Got the back of DD1's side tie vest done. But it was right at 10:00 so didn't cast on one of the front's yet. Tonight.

What's going around?

Geez. DH was sick yesterday. Down right goofy. He was leaving in the truck and didn't know where he was going, walking around with is bowl back to my hobby area and didn't know why. Said his back was killing him. So I tell him go get on the table in the spa room and I'll be right there. Well first stroke down his back and I was like "dang he feels hot to touch" took his temp and it's a stinking 103!!!!!! No wonder he was delirious, LOL. Anyway got him Ibuprofen and a cool rag on his head and in bed. 2 hours later he comes back down stairs, still 102.2. He sat in his recliner and slept. Went to feel his forhead and he's soping wet, but cool. Took his temp and it was down to 99.4. Whew. Then this morning my secretary calls in sick with a 104 temp and diarrhea!!!! I am heading for the mountains, I'll be back when every one is well. LOL. Any way it was a great mother's day. My mom, sister and her hubby, my youngest daughter and my hubby all went to lunch at 11:30 at our favorite Italian rest. Then my mom, DD2 and I went to have pedicures. Then my DD2 and my hubby and I went to see "RV". Too funny. We have been there and done a few of those things in our RV. The first time they drove it around the corner so fast, was like the time my DH was driving from Blanco to Fredriskburg on one of the back roads, I had already dozed off since we had been driving from Washington on the Brazo's state park that morning (3 hours, LOL) and had just stopped in Blanco for a quick visit with DD1 and DSIL. He took a curve going probably 65 that should have been oh like 35??? I woke up nearly on my side yelling F _ _ _ _____ __ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ck!!!!!!!!!!! Then the next words were "Pull over, I am driving"!!!!. Geeze my heart didn't slow down till we got to Fredricksburg. Then there is a part that he drives up a place that has sign's "4-wheel drive only". And it made us remember our drive to Cloudcroft, NM. We were going with a group for the Gathering of Circles. Well they were dry camping ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN!!!!!!! We got our 34 foot motor home up there, but how, don't ask us. 1 mile per hour LOL. But we had hot showers every day, LOL. But the dang generator wouldn't stay running, it was too loud anyway, so we had to run our little DVD player on battery one evening when it was to cold and wet to be outside by campfire. Geeze, LOL, do you see how we like to rough it??? If you are a camper you'll love the movie, because oh boy could we relate!! Did get some work on my projects.

DD1's Side Tie Top as of 05/14/06 (Back almost done)

Second pair of socks as of 05/14/06 2 more inches before heel.

TGIF

Got a few rows on DD1's top done. DS and my mom had me on a conference IM last night trying to decide when and where to eat for Mother's Day and scoop on DD2's new BF. So between them and watching ER I had to put it down before I messed up my counts, LOL. But the lace edging is looking as it should so I am pleased. No sock time though. Today is our Springfest at work. It's a fund raiser for the Children's Miracle Network. So too much food, and fun, LOL. One estate sale, but in Midland so probably won't make that. But a good moving sale here, may have to go there, LOL. Like I need anything else. Hope to get a few more patio pavers down this weekend. But DH keeps booking clients for me tomorrow and Sunday is Mom's day. Added some things to my Amazon Wish list for my SP8. Hope mine sends me her list. LOL.

Casted on 05/10/06

Finally got the courage to cast on the top for my DD1. It's from the Vogue Knitting Magazine. Page 94 Side Tie Vest in lavender bamboo yarn.
It should be good practice for our LSSK lace KAL.

A place for my secret pal to post comments.

I will watch this place for any posts from my secret pal 8.

Secret Pal 8

http://secretpal8.blogspot.com/#

My secret pal has made contact, Yahooooo!. This should be so much fun. So here you go SP! My answers to the questionaire.

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I am a newbie knitter. Just started in Nov 2005. But I like the Merino wool we used for a baby sweater in a class I took. I used a Lion Brand Wool-ease for my first pair of socks I knitted. And am using a sport weight self stripping for the pair I am working on now. Some novelty yarns for scarf’s last Christmas.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have two big zippered needle holders for my knitting needles and a clasp purse thing for my crochet hooks.

3. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I have been teaching myself to knit since last Nov. Now, of course, I'm practically obsessed!! I would consider myself an intermediate knitter.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I do now! LOL

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

Yankee eucalyptus candle. My daughter just gave me one for mother’s day. Lavender, patchouli, let’s put it this way. I love scents. Tea tree isn’t my favorite.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Yes!!! My favorite candies are Heath bars and snickers.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

Sewing, beading (a little). I stain wood etc around our house just finished staining our hot tub redwood (it had gotten very faded). See blog for the stairs I stained and tong oiled. I don't spin.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like lots of different kinds of music. "Eclectic" might be the right word to describe my taste. Do not like hard rock. My favorite radio station is “memories” plays a great mix of oldies. Ottmar Liebert’s guitar is my favorite. I think I have all his CD’s.

9. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?

I really purple, reds. Earth colors. I wear a lot of black.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I live with my hubby, 7 dogs and 2 cats. We breed Chinese pugs, LOL. And have a rescue Aussie mix, and 2 rescue cats, one black and white and a Siamese.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

Scarves in the winter. Not so much hats. I crocheted two Martha Stewart ponchos last year (see blog). But living in Texas you don’t have much cold. LOL. I have leather gloves that I have had for 10 years that are like butter. So wear them the most.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I have only knitted a few things so don’t have a favorite yet. But I am on my second pair of socks, LOL.

13. What are you knitting right now?

Socks, a prayer shawl, and getting ready to cast on a summer top for DD1.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Yes, absolutely!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Circulars are great! I find them to be really versatile. More importantly, they're compact and reduce the risk of injury (along with any possible lawsuits) while knitting... I've never used wooden needles before but I have a pair but the sock pattern I am using called for a different size, LOL. . Of the needles I've knitted with, I much prefer aluminum to plastic but I have so many!!!! Got them at estate sales and I can’t pass any up. LOL.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

Yarn winder yes. Don’t know what a swift is.

17. How did you learn to knit?

I taught myself from books, knitting help.com, yahoo groups, just subscribed to knitters edge, and I have gone to a couple classes (baby sweater was the project but I finished way ahead of them and haven’t been back)

18. How old is your oldest UFO?

2 months (prayer shawl that I only work on when I need mindless knitting K3P2)

19. What is your favorite holiday?

The entire stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year's is my favorite time of the year.

20. Is there anything that you collect?

I have an embarrassingly large collection coffee cups. I get one from every place I go. Knitting needles??? LOL.

21. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I subscribed to a couple on line can’t recall the names; I have bought a few from Hastings. One Vogue Knits of which I am using the pattern for DD1’s top.

22. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

I'm intimidated by color work and I think I really need to learn to use charts! I got some knitting machines from an estate sale and I am trying to figure them out.

23. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes.

24. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

08/29

Still feeling under the weather

I was feeling a bit better when I woke up, but fever is creeping up again. And I still have a cough. Sinus pain over frontal sinus's and my neck nodes are enlarged. DH has a Dr.'s appointment this AM, so I may tag along since no one is answering the office number and I can't get my own, LOL. Got some knitting done on my prayer shawl, started a second skein of yarn. It's now as long as my arm from wrist to shoulder. So the three skeins should be enough. I still can't find anyone to teach me the knitting machines so that's frustrating. I tried to work with them some yesterday, but I felt so bad it wasn't working. I hope that Ewe and Eye e-mails back that they can help this Friday. Let's hope anyway. I was contacted by our Secret Pal 8 coordinator so that will start soon. She said she hoped to get assignments out this week. This should be fun!

Update

Busy weekend. We worked at the center on Saturday until 1, then went home to do all the sheets, LOL. Never ending job with two massage therapists. I played around with my knitting machine that I got from an estate sale. Wow $500.oo for two machines, knitleader, color changer, and other attachements I have no idea what they are for. LOL. And yarn, yarn, yarn, 8 huge totes full and 1 tote of books, magazines, etc. It was frustrating me, so I went and worked on the tank top instead. It is finished and blocking as of yesterday. Didn't start anything new. Need my oldest daughters bust measurement to start her top. I worked in the garden again yesterday. But down probably 1/2 of the 90 bricks we got last week. Got the patio finished to the flower bed and the walk way leading from the back porch to the hot tub is done and started on the side walk to the patio but ran out of paver sand. Hubby said it's 5 o'clock it's time to stop. Woke up yesterday with a tickle in my throat and a cough. Today it's worse and running a low grade temp but feels hotter. LOL. Been self medicating with day time cold medicine, robitussin, and tylenol. And I didn't sleep well last night so I am very tired. Hard to tell if the body aches are from the garden work or this virus. I hope I can find a teacher for this knitting machine. It seems lie it could be a lot of fun.
